Release of Information Specialist (8am‑4:30pm)

About the role

The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist I works within the VitalChart department to process medical‑record requests efficiently while protecting patient privacy. This full‑time position operates Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, and collaborates closely with the ROI Area Manager and Team Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, prioritize, and complete Continuing Care and Disability Determination Service requests.
• Validate patient authorizations and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other federal/state statutes.
• Retrieve and upload requested portions of medical charts from electronic or physical repositories.
• Perform quality‑control checks to prevent PHI breaches and verify accurate invoicing.
• Document all actions, exceptions, and communications in ROI software.
• Alert supervisors to unusual requests, potential breaches, or delays.
• Respond to requester inquiries professionally and securely store all records.
