Research and Data Specialist – Flagship Reports (P-4)

About the role

Under the guidance of the Deputy Chief of Research & Data, you will lead the research agenda for UN Women’s flagship publications, build strategic partnerships, and provide substantive evidence to support inter‑governmental gender‑equality processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research, data analysis and editorial work for UN Women flagship reports such as the World Survey on the Role of Women in Development and Progress of the World’s Women.
• Design and commission research studies, convene expert groups, and oversee the production of policy briefs and Beijing review reports.
• Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with UN agencies, research institutes, donors and civil‑society organisations to expand the research network.
• Support inter‑governmental processes by preparing reports for bodies like the CSW and the Secretary‑General.
• Supervise a Programme Analyst and affiliate staff, ensuring quality and timely delivery of outputs.

Required profile

• Advanced knowledge of gender and public policy, with expertise in at least one area such as economic empowerment or violence prevention.
• Proven experience conducting high‑quality qualitative and quantitative research, including statistical analysis of gender‑related indicators.
• Strong ability to translate research findings into policy advice and programmatic guidance for senior leadership.
