Safety & Sustainability Assistant Manager

About the role

PEL is looking for a proactive Safety & Sustainability Assistant Manager to drive its ESG and HSE agenda. You will help ensure safe LPG distribution while advancing environmental performance, regulatory compliance, and long‑term sustainability across all operations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and continuously improve PEL’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) procedures, work instructions and records.
• Mentor HSE Assistants and Officers in developing safe work systems and environmental protection measures.
• Ensure compliance with PEL’s Environmental, Occupational Safety & Health Policy and statutory requirements, including OSHA 2007 and EMCA 1999.
• Support the HSE Manager in liaising with regulators and managing emergency situations at company installations.
• Conduct safety inductions for visitors, contractors, interns and new staff.
• Supervise commissioning after major maintenance to guarantee personnel and equipment safety.
• Perform risk assessments, develop action plans and oversee their implementation.
• Implement fire safety measures, conduct drills and maintain equipment.
• Develop and enforce emergency response plans, facilitate audits and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate HSE documentation and ESG records, analyse data and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Solid understanding of HSE regulations, especially OSHA 2007 and EMCA 1999.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and regulatory liaison.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and manage emergency response.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent documentation skills.
