Senior Accountant

About the role

Jobberman is hiring a Senior Accountant based in Nairobi, working under the supervision of the Head of Finance (Kenya). The role covers day-to-day finance operations, including risk management, reporting, cash flow, budgeting and statutory reporting, and contributes to the organisation's overall objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Risk management and compliance: ensure finance operations comply with company policies, support internal audits, follow accounting reporting deadlines, and comply with local laws including timely tax and statutory deduction filings.
• Management reporting: review monthly budget versus expenditure, prepare monthly performance reports and quarterly reports with analysis, track P&L drivers against budget, reconcile balance sheets and journal entries, and explain budget variances to stakeholders such as Marketing, Commercial and HR.
• Cash flow management: supervise daily cash activities, liaise with departments on cash needs, prepare monthly cash flow reports, manage payment schedules and petty cash.
• Budgeting and forecasting: partner with function and region leads on budgeting and forecasting, and prepare yearly forecasts with analysis.
• Statutory reporting: support external auditors during the statutory audit, prepare project financial reports in line with donor policies, and help the finance manager and CEO with decision-making information.
• Debt management: keep the debtor list up to date, follow up on collections and escalate difficult clients to the finance and sales managers.
• Finance operations: oversee monthly VAT and withholding tax filing, maintain the fixed assets register, support the year-end audit, and perform other duties assigned by the Finance Manager.
