Senior Backend Engineer - Asset Sales (C#/.NET, Remote)

About the role

M-KOPA is hiring a permanent Senior Backend Engineer for its Asset Sales group, building distributed, event-driven microservices on Azure. The role is fully remote, with collaboration during core GMT working hours, and sits within an AI-native engineering approach. The impact of the work is described as powering systems that connect smartphones and e-motorbikes to customers across Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Build and operate distributed C# and .NET microservices on Azure using an event-driven architecture at significant scale
• Own each service end-to-end, from idea and implementation through deployment to production and iteration
• Use observability tooling (Grafana, Azure Application Insights, logs, traces and metrics) to understand production behaviour
• Use AI tools in the daily workflow for design, code generation and review, test writing and incident investigation
• Design for idempotency, retries, out-of-order events and failure modes, and help operate the systems via on-call

Required profile

• Senior engineer who is curious, autonomous and highly trusted, able to own the full software stack including supporting infrastructure
• Experience with event-driven systems and microservices, preferably on Azure and Kubernetes
• Ability to collaborate in distributed teams across time zones
• DevOps culture mindset, including on-call and production ownership

Required skills

• Strong grasp of C# and .NET development
• Event-driven systems (Azure Service Bus; Kafka, RabbitMQ mentioned as welcome)
• Observability tooling such as Grafana and Application Insights
• DevOps mindset and on-call readiness
