Senior Backend Engineer – Mobility

About the role

M-KOPA Mobility, the e-mobility business of M-KOPA Solar, is recruiting a Senior Backend Engineer for its expanding engineering team. The role is remote and based in Nairobi, Kenya, and focuses on building event-driven microservices that power clean, affordable transport for riders and entrepreneurs across Africa. The company describes itself as fast growing, with a 3x year-on-year growth rate.

Key responsibilities

• Build sophisticated event-driven microservices with real-world impact, owning solutions end-to-end from architecture decisions to production monitoring.
• Develop using C#/.NET and Azure, with experience across AWS or GCP welcomed.
• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code as part of the engineering workflow.
• Work within a DevOps culture, with automated testing across all environments including production, infrastructure as code and continuous delivery.

Required profile

• Comfortable working in a team that owns the entire software stack, from inception through production to decommissioning.
• Values the constraints of continuous delivery and treats testing and observability as first-order concerns.
• Experience working with AI coding tools, ideally Claude Code or similar.
