Senior Civil Engineer – District Water & Wastewater Projects

About the role

The District is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of capital projects across its water and wastewater utility systems, recreation facilities, and environmental initiatives. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects meet regulatory, budgetary, and schedule requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee all phases of district‑wide capital projects, from concept through construction completion.
• Develop and review design documents, hydraulic models, and GIS data to support project decisions.
• Manage inspection, quality control, and integration of work performed by contractors and internal staff.
• Ensure compliance with Nevada public bidding, procurement rules, and Tahoe Basin regulatory processes.
• Communicate project status and technical information to stakeholders, senior management, and the public.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience, including project management and supervisory responsibilities.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Nevada or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office suite.
• Experience in hydraulic modeling.
• AutoCAD competency.
• ArcView GIS knowledge.
