Senior Director of Project Delivery (CRO)

About the role

Emerald Clinical Trials is seeking a senior leader to head its Project Delivery function. The role combines people management, operational oversight, and client engagement to ensure clinical projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing Project Management team, including Project Directors, Managers and Specialists.
• Recruit, onboard, and retain skilled project management professionals.
• Allocate resources across projects, balancing business priorities and staff development.
• Oversee end‑to‑end delivery of clinical studies, ensuring compliance with regulations, budgets, timelines and quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and process innovation.
• Represent the company in client meetings, proposals, bid defenses and presentations.
• When needed, act as a billable Project Director on high‑impact or resource‑constrained projects.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in clinical project delivery within a CRO or similar environment.
• Strong track record of building and managing high‑performing project teams.
• Excellent understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements for clinical trials.
• Demonstrated ability to influence clients and contribute to business development activities.
• Strategic mindset with a focus on operational excellence.
