Senior Finance Coordinator

About the role

The Senior Finance Coordinator will provide specialist financial expertise and operational support to BBC News activities across East Africa. You will ensure robust financial controls, accurate reporting and effective treasury management while supporting business planning and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day financial operations, including supplier payments, invoicing, expense management, banking activities and cash management.
• Prepare and review monthly financial reports, reconciliations, forecasts and management information to support operational decisions.
• Lead month‑end reporting processes and maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
• Perform bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and resolve them promptly.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with BBC policies, treasury requirements and internal control frameworks.
• Administer finance system access controls and ensure data protection compliance.
• Support compliance with local statutory, tax and regulatory requirements and ensure timely filings.
• Assist internal and external audit processes, preparing documentation and implementing recommendations.
• Monitor performance of outsourced finance service providers and banking partners to meet operational standards.

Required profile

• A recognised professional accounting qualification (CPA(K), ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Relevant experience in a finance role, including financial reporting, reconciliations and budgeting.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaborate with editorial, operational and project teams.
