Senior Legal Counsel – Litigation

About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel – Litigation will manage dispute resolution, litigation risk and external counsel strategy for KCB Bank. This full‑time position is based in Nairobi and requires a law degree, advocate admission and extensive legal experience.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research, collate evidence and prepare witnesses for pre‑trial and hearings.
• Develop concept papers, legal briefs, opinions and defence strategies in liaison with external lawyers.
• Represent the Bank before courts or tribunals as a witness or watch‑brief.
• Manage and measure external lawyers’ performance and ensure efficient service delivery.
• Provide legal awareness, advice and guidance to retail branches to mitigate legal and reputational risks.
• Scrutinise legal fees, update litigation databases and produce required reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law and a Diploma in Law.
• At least 5 years of legal experience, including 4 years in legal drafting, corporate governance and risk management.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in legal communication and advocacy.
