Senior Manager, Commercial & Custody Unit

About the role

The Senior Manager will lead the Commercial & Custody Unit, providing expert legal guidance on corporate, commercial, and banking matters. This role ensures the bank’s operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations while supporting business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on corporate law, commercial contracts, intellectual property, employment, consumer protection, and banking regulations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and custody agreements.
• Ensure compliance with Central Bank of Kenya guidelines and other regulatory requirements.
• Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals.
• Oversee reporting, office administration, and personnel administration including working hours and holidays.
• Represent the bank in legal proceedings and liaise with external counsel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution; MBA or LL.M is an advantage.
• Admitted to the Bar and Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience practising commercial and banking law.
• At least 1 year of management experience.
• Strong research, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and explain complex calculations verbally.
