Senior Manager, Higher Education Inclusion

About the role

World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is looking for a Senior Manager, Higher Education Inclusion, based outside Kenya. The role combines technical expertise in higher education inclusion with strong partnership management, and focuses on helping refugee, displaced and host community youth access secondary and higher education, with a target of 70% young women.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop teams, including young professionals and technically experienced staff, setting objectives, delegating, giving feedback and mentoring.
• Manage program budgets (minimum $1M+ USD portfolio scope) and oversee financial reporting for donor-funded multi-country initiatives.
• Promote higher education access for populations of concern through participatory technical assistance, toolkits and training materials.
• Support secondary education access, retention and completion, and pathways into higher education for marginalized or displaced youth, especially young women.
• Embed gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) across program design, implementation, partnerships and monitoring and learning.
• Engage with employer federations, private sector, government ministries and agencies, and development partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field such as International Development, Education, Public Policy or International Relations.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in higher education or technical assistance projects, including at least 5 years managing multi-country teams across African time zones.
• Experience managing budgets of $1M+ USD and overseeing financial reporting.
• Deep knowledge of Anglophone and Francophone higher education, TVET and qualification accreditation systems across Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Fluency in English; professional French is a significant asset.
• Willingness to travel frequently across Africa (about 25% of working time).
