Senior Product Manager – AI‑Native FinTech

About the role

Umba, a pan‑African digital bank, is looking for a Senior Product Manager to drive product strategy and execution across its Lending, Savings, FX and upcoming Trade Finance lines. Working directly with the CEO and the Product Lead, you will operate in an AI‑native environment, using tools such as Claude Code, Claude Design and Codex to prototype, specify and ship features at high speed.

Key responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap for Lending, Savings & Fixed Deposits, FX and Trade Finance.
• Conduct customer discovery with freelancers, SME exporters/importers and individual borrowers.
• Size opportunities, build instrument funnels and validate hypotheses using production data.
• Prioritise initiatives across diverse product lines and defend decisions with quantitative analysis.
• Track competitor activity in African fintech and translate insights into product decisions.
• Write clear, testable product and technical specifications for AI agents and engineers.
• Prototype concepts in Claude Design before committing engineering resources.
• Code and ship small pull‑requests yourself with Claude Code when it accelerates delivery.
• Manage end‑to‑end delivery in Linear, coordinating stand‑ups, sprint reviews and cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Own outcomes by linking each initiative to revenue, growth or risk metrics and iterating post‑launch.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a product manager in a fast‑moving fintech or digital banking environment.
• Comfortable working in an AI‑native workflow and collaborating closely with engineering and data teams.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to size markets, run experiments and make data‑driven prioritisation.
• Excellent communication skills to align CEOs, engineers, risk, compliance and marketing stakeholders.
