Senior Project Manager

About the role

The Senior Project Manager reports to the Head of Change and is responsible for delivering business‑critical projects that support Absa Bank Kenya’s strategic and operational objectives. The role involves managing projects of varying size and complexity across Kenya and the wider African region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop business cases, project charters and secure sign‑off from sponsors and steering committees.
• Define scope, plan deliverables and allocate resources to ensure projects are funded and aligned with senior management expectations.
• Lead large‑scale projects, establishing governance structures, monitoring progress and ensuring compliance with Absa’s project methodology.
• Prepare accurate forecasts of costs, cash flow, timelines and resource needs; report regularly to executives and steering committees.
• Identify, assess and manage project risks and issues, escalating where necessary and implementing contingency plans.
• Oversee operational handover, training and service‑level agreements to guarantee seamless transition to support teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering medium to large, complex projects in a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate cross‑functional teams and senior executives.
• Excellent analytical and communication abilities, capable of producing detailed reports and presentations.
