Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

About the role

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer drives quality engineering across software products through test automation, performance testing and continuous improvement of testing frameworks. Working closely with developers, architects and delivery teams, the role embeds quality throughout the software development lifecycle, from design through deployment and production support. It combines strong quality engineering capability with hands-on software development skills.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, customise, deploy and maintain scalable test automation frameworks across multiple systems and applications.
• Develop unit, integration, mock service and API tests, work with developers to analyse defects and improve test coverage.
• Run performance and load tests against agreed baseline standards and benchmarks.
• Define test strategies, plans, cases and scenarios, and execute tests while tracking and managing defects.
• Support regression testing, defect replication and debugging, and build CI/CD execution pipelines.
• Take part in architecture reviews, support production deployments and incident root cause analysis.
• Mentor QA engineers on automation practices and quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• Minimum five years in software quality assurance within complex systems, and at least four years in software development or TDD environments.
• Minimum three years in test automation and performance testing.
• ISTQB or equivalent certification required; Agile, ITIL or project management certifications are an added advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java or Python, with reusable automation code.
• API testing with Postman and Soap UI, white-box testing and mocking frameworks such as Mockito.
• Automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, Robot Framework, Playwright, Appium or WebdriverIO.
• Performance testing with Apache JMeter.
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo, Git, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Agile delivery (Scrum or Sprint) and exposure to Behaviour Driven Development.
