Senior Software Engineer - LMS & MIS

About the role

Pezesha, an embedded finance company providing credit solutions to MSMEs across Africa, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer for its Loan Management System (LMS) and Management Information System (MIS). The role leads the design and implementation of the LMS/MIS roadmap and solutions, strengthens the core banking infrastructure and supports operations in Kenya and Uganda. It reports to the CTO and tech lead.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of the LMS/MIS roadmap and solutions, and define it as a robust core banking module for internal use.
• Manage and resolve LMS/MIS issues raised by the Finance, Credit and Data teams, and act as their main point of contact.
• Develop long-term, scalable solutions to recurring LMS issues and automate manual processes so internal teams can work independently.
• Lead the weekly LMS workstream meetings and prepare documentation and training for relevant teams.
• Build a technical foundation for the "LMS as a Service" module launching in 2026.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, preferably in fintech, banking or lending platforms.
• Strong understanding of LMS and MIS workflows, lending processes and financial reporting.
• Preferred: prior experience with Loan Management or Core Banking systems, and knowledge of credit scoring models and risk management systems.

Required skills

• Backend technologies such as PHP, Java, C#, Python or Node.js.
• Frontend frameworks such as React or NextJS for dashboards and reporting.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB).
• RESTful APIs and integration with third-party services.
• Cloud platforms (GCP, AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Data security, encryption and regulatory compliance (GDPR, PCI-DSS, local financial regulations).
• Preferred: BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Metabase), microservices and event-driven systems, and Agile/Scrum.
