Senior Technical Advisor – HIV Care & Treatment

About the role

PATH Kenya is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor to provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for integrated HIV/TB care and treatment services across selected counties. The role will guide implementation, mentor staff, and ensure sustainability of services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee integrated HIV/TB service delivery at project‑supported health facilities, ensuring compliance with national and global guidelines.
• Contribute to work‑plan development, support evidence‑based service‑delivery strategies, and address gaps in testing, linkage, retention, and viral load suppression.
• Collaborate with ministries of health, local governments, and NGOs to strengthen referral networks and build local capacity.
• Strengthen county ownership and sustainability by engaging county leadership, supporting technical working groups, and advancing transition roadmaps.
• Ensure donor targets are met, oversee data‑driven quality‑improvement initiatives, and contribute to technical reporting.
• Document and disseminate success stories, technical papers, and lessons learned to enhance project visibility.

Required profile

• MBChB or equivalent with an MPH or comparable qualification.
• Minimum seven years of public‑health experience, including design and oversight of county health‑systems‑strengthening programs.
• At least five years in a senior supervisory role within the Ministry of Health or a donor‑funded/PEPFAR‑supported HIV/AIDS program.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Expertise in current integrated HIV guidelines and HIV/TB program performance metrics.
• Knowledge of donor compliance requirements and Kenya’s devolved health‑system architecture.
• Ability to navigate national, county, sub‑county, and facility‑level health structures.
