Shop Technician – Heavy Machinery Repair

About the role

Komatsu is seeking a Shop Technician to join its workshop team in Mesa, Arizona. You will be responsible for repairing and maintaining heavy‑machinery components, ensuring equipment reliability for mining and construction operations. The role demands high repair efficiency, strict safety compliance, and accurate documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Complete assigned jobs within flat‑rate times and meet re‑work metrics.
• Follow all safety policies, contamination‑control, and HAZMAT regulations.
• Accurately complete paperwork and update databases (work orders, parts orders, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW).
• Remove, install, disassemble, and re‑assemble parts, then test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Provide accurate quotes and pricing estimates to customers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems and recommend repairs.
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
• Apply failure‑analysis procedures to determine proper diagnosis.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate Degree in Diesel Technology preferred.
• Minimum 2 years experience in mining or construction equipment maintenance.
• Certification to operate a forklift and/or man‑lift.
• May need DOT physical, MSHA certification, and respirator certification.
• Must possess a basic set of mechanic tools meeting Komatsu standards.
