Sign Language Interpreter – Full Time

About the role

The Sign Language Interpreter will facilitate communication between Deaf or hard‑of‑hearing patients and the hospital’s medical team at Siloam Hospital in Kericho. The role ensures that patients receive accurate medical information and that consultations and procedures are conducted smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpretation between patients, healthcare professionals, and other hospital staff.
• Facilitate clear communication during consultations, examinations, and medical procedures.
• Interpret medical information accurately and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Support accessible healthcare services by ensuring all parties understand each other.
• Assist in documenting interpreted sessions when required.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Kenya Sign Language (KSL), Sign Language Interpretation, or a related field.
• Demonstrable proficiency in Kenyan Sign Language.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
