Site Accountant – Mining Finance Lead

About the role
The Site Accountant will own all financial control functions at the West Pokot Mine, including cash and imprest oversight, casual payroll validation and month‑end reporting. Reporting functionally to the Senior Accountant at the parent‑company head office, the role supervises the Site Junior Accountant and acts as the bridge between on‑site operations and corporate finance.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and enforce the site financial control framework, ensuring segregation of duties for requisition, approval, custody, recording and payment.
- Validate and reconcile casual labour payrolls, fuel issuance, stores movements and supplier invoices against attendance, biometric records and equipment logbooks.
- Prepare and deliver a complete, reviewed month‑end site pack to the Senior Accountant by the third working day of each month.
- Conduct unannounced cash counts, oversee petty‑cash reconciliations and manage imprest balances.
- Coach the Site Junior Accountant to achieve an independent, audit‑ready standard.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
- CPA (K) qualification and active ICPAK membership.
- Minimum 4 years progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a remote mining site environment.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations (KRA) and audit requirements.
