Stationary Engineer

About the role

Amentum is looking for a Stationary Engineer to join a critical US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will ensure the reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of essential stationary equipment such as boilers, chillers, generators, and HVAC systems.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain stationary engines, steam boilers, air compressors, generators, and HVAC equipment.
• Monitor daily readings, perform adjustments, and troubleshoot to keep systems running safely and efficiently.
• Conduct routine maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and part replacements on boilers, pumps, refrigeration units, compressors, and related mechanical systems.
• Start, stop, regulate, and monitor power generation, chilled water, fuel, and steam distribution systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, and associated control systems.
• Follow preventative‑maintenance schedules, keep detailed equipment logs, and use CMMS for work orders.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, local laws, and U.S. government/military regulations.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, making necessary adjustments or repairs.
• Assist in planning upgrades or replacements of aging equipment to improve efficiency and safety.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience operating, maintaining, and repairing stationary engines and mechanical equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in stationary engineering are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems for power generation and utility distribution.
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues effectively.
• Familiarity with safety procedures and government regulations for stationary systems.
• Proficiency with equipment logs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity for international travel.
