Store Keeper - Hardware

About the role

Employd Staffing Solutions Ltd, a human capital consultancy in Nairobi, is recruiting a Store Keeper for a hardware store in South C, Nairobi. The store keeper oversees the daily operations of the storage facility, including receiving shipments, checking goods, organizing inventory and preparing materials for distribution to internal teams or external clients. The salary range is KES 25,000 to 30,000.

Key responsibilities

• Unload incoming shipments, cross-check delivered items against purchase orders or invoices, and visually inspect goods for defects or damage.
• Maintain accurate stock records in digital inventory software, carry out routine physical stock counts and reconcile them with system data.
• Label, sort and organize items on shelves, racks or pallets according to safety standards and accessibility logic.
• Pick, pack and issue stock to authorized personnel or departments, ensuring goods issuance notes are signed off.
• Monitor stock levels and alert the purchasing or procurement department when inventory falls below minimum thresholds.
• Keep the storeroom clean, organized and hazard-free, and enforce security protocols to prevent theft, loss or damage.

Required profile

• Diploma or equivalent in supply chain management or logistics.
• Prior experience in a warehouse, storeroom, retail inventory room or distribution center.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy packages and safely operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks.
• High accuracy in data entry and item verification.

Required skills

• Solid basic math skills for counting inventory.
• Proficiency with inventory management software, barcode scanners and basic spreadsheets (Excel).
