Storekeeper

About the role

The Storekeeper will manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of merchandise for a Marriott hotel in Nairobi. This role ensures that all supplies are handled safely, inventory levels are maintained, and food‑service areas comply with hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and stage merchandise by department, marking items for proper placement.
• Stack received goods on pallets or carts and deliver them to the appropriate department.
• Complete requisition forms for inventory and supplies, notifying supervisors of low stock.
• Store perishables correctly, rotate stock, and inspect deliveries for freshness, cleanliness, and quality.
• Refuse damaged, unacceptable, or incorrect items and adhere to food safety policies.
• Organise, clean, and sanitise refrigerators, freezers, floors, equipment, and drains.
• Remove empty pallets, cardboard, and trash, placing them in designated storage areas.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions; complete required safety training.
• Maintain professional appearance, confidentiality, and protect company assets.
• Communicate clearly with guests and co‑workers and support team goals.

Required profile

• Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Previous experience in store management, preferably within a 5‑star hotel environment.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and lift objects up to 50 lb without assistance.
• Capability to work in narrow, confined, or elevated spaces and navigate uneven or slippery surfaces.
• Strong attention to detail for visual verification of information and product quality.
