Studio Technician – Digital Media

About the role

The Studio Technician – Digital Media will manage the technical operation, maintenance, and administration of all studio facilities and equipment at KCA University. The role supports student and faculty media projects, providing hands‑on technical training, post‑production assistance, and administrative support.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and strike technical equipment for studio productions such as television news, interviews, podcasts, and multi‑camera broadcasts.
• Maintain and troubleshoot professional media gear, including 4K/HD cameras, video switchers, audio mixing consoles, lighting grids, teleprompters, and streaming encoders.
• Manage equipment inventory, check‑in/check‑out processes, and ensure studio spaces meet industry standards for quality and safety.
• Provide advanced instruction in non‑linear editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer) and assist with motion graphics, visual effects, and colour grading using Adobe After Effects and DaVinci Resolve.
• Develop documentation, tutorials, and standard operating procedures for equipment and software.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media Production, Communications, Broadcasting or a related field.
• At least one year of relevant experience in a broadcast television, media production, or academic studio environment.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with studio cameras (4K/HD), video switchers (e.g., TriCaster, Ross), audio mixers, lighting grids, teleprompters, and streaming encoders.
• Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, Adobe After Effects, and DaVinci Resolve.
• Experience in graphic design, motion graphics, and visual effects creation.
