Switchboard Operator

About the role

We are looking for a Switchboard Operator to join Amentum’s US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves handling inbound and outbound calls, providing accurate information, and supporting emergency communications.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and manage the telephone switchboard, answering, screening and directing calls.
• Log and track calls, provide status updates and route inquiries to the appropriate department.
• Assist with emergency communications and prioritize urgent calls according to escalation protocols.
• Maintain and update the directory database to ensure efficient call routing.
• Handle sensitive and confidential information securely.
• Follow operational procedures for equipment usage, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience operating a switchboard or in a customer‑service role.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent English (spoken and written).
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and work in an austere OCONUS environment.
