Tailor – Diego Garcia

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Tailor to provide professional clothing alteration, repair, and tailoring services for a US Navy program based on Diego Garcia. The role involves working with a variety of garments, including uniforms and specialty clothing, to ensure high‑quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform clothing alterations such as resizing, hemming, mending, button replacement, and other adjustments.
• Measure and fit garments accurately for clients.
• Repair and restore damaged or worn clothing, maintaining high standards.
• Handle diverse fabrics and garment types, including military uniforms and personal apparel.
• Operate and maintain sewing machines, irons, and other tailoring equipment safely.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and keep records of completed work and inventory.
• Provide exceptional customer service, offering tailoring advice and addressing inquiries.
• Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and adhere to established procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in clothing alteration, repair, and tailoring.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials.

Required skills

• Proficient use of sewing machines.
• Proficient use of irons.
• Experience with common tailoring tools.
• Strong understanding of garment construction and fabric properties.
