Tanzania Market Access Lead (Fixed-Term)

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a senior leader to shape its market access strategy across Tanzania. This fixed‑term position will guide the design and execution of commercial models that connect smallholder farmers to profitable value chains.

Key responsibilities

• Define a multi‑year market access roadmap, prioritising value chains such as cashew and avocado.
• Conduct opportunity assessments to decide on investment, partnership, pilot or scale decisions.
• Translate country‑level goals into a balanced portfolio that manages growth and risk.
• Design commercially sound processing and aggregation models, choosing direct or partner‑led delivery approaches.
• Lead partnership identification, negotiation and management to ensure viable market pathways.
• Oversee a cross‑functional team delivering farmer‑facing and commercial workstreams.

Required profile

• Proven experience in market systems development or agribusiness strategy, preferably in East Africa.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with operational depth to guide execution.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
• Track record of designing and scaling commercial models for smallholder farmers.
