About the role
The Tea Factory Shift Mechanic ensures the smooth operation of critical processing equipment during assigned shifts. Working in Nyamira County, the mechanic collaborates closely with the Technical Assistant, Mechanical Foreman, electricians and production supervisors to keep the factory running efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Operate and monitor factory machinery such as withering troughs, monorails, batch weighing feeders, rotor vanes, CTCs, CFUs, FBDs, fibre sorties and conveyors.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose faults and minimise downtime.
- Conduct preventive and planned maintenance activities on rotating equipment and mechanical drivers.
- Coordinate maintenance work with shift electricians, production teams and CTC sharpening technicians.
- Maintain safety standards and cleanliness in all work areas.
Required profile
- Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
- 3‑5 years of hands‑on industrial machinery maintenance experience.
- Experience in tea processing or a similar industry is an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively on rotating shifts.
- Strong teamwork, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
