Team Lead - Internal Audit & Compliance

About the role

A client in the oil and gas sector is looking for a seasoned Internal Audit professional to lead its internal audit function. The role calls for strong risk management, internal controls and compliance knowledge, together with the leadership skills to guide and develop a high-performing audit team. It covers ongoing compliance monitoring, audits, audit observations and actionable recommendations, in line with IIA Standards and the organization's internal frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and conduct comprehensive internal audits and surprise stock and cash counts across group companies
• Develop and implement audit plans and methodologies based on risk assessments
• Review the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, governance and risk management
• Produce audit reports with findings, observations and recommendations, and present them to senior management and the audit committee
• Track the implementation of agreed recommendations
• Ensure compliance with regulations, policies and industry standards, escalating breaches through weekly reporting
• Deliver training on compliance and support a culture of compliance, ethics and risk management
• Advise departments on compliance and audit issues and collaborate with external audit firms
• Support the review of financial data, contracts and documents, and help improve internal controls and reporting systems

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting & Finance, Economics, Commerce or a related field (Master's an added advantage)
• Chartered Accountancy (CA), CIA, CISA, CPA or ACCA certification
• 7+ years of experience in audit or risk advisory in the oil and gas industry or a reputable audit firm
