Technical Advisor II – Food Security, Livelihoods & Markets (Sudan FNS Plan Lead)

About the role

You will provide technical advice and support on food security, livelihoods and market‑based programming, and lead the coordination of Sudan’s first Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) Plan. The position is remote, with a strong preference for candidates based in East Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement agency‑wide strategies, standards and tools for food security and livelihoods, ensuring gender, protection and disaster risk reduction integration.
• Provide technical solutions to regional and country teams for program design, monitoring, and donor compliance.
• Lead the design of large proposals, define monitoring systems and advise on donor requirements.
• Strengthen capacity of staff and partners through training, workshops and mentorship on food security and market‑based interventions.
• Coordinate the Sudan FNS Plan Secretariat, manage its budget, sub‑grants, and relationships with the World Bank and other donors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in international development, food security, livelihoods or related field.
• Minimum eight years of international experience in advisory or management roles, including at least three years overseas.
• Proven experience managing in‑kind food assistance programs (e.g., USAID Title II) and developing successful donor proposals.
• Fluent English; Arabic is desirable. Willingness to travel up to 50%, frequently to Sudan.
