Technical Machine Operator – Manufacturing

About the role

The Technical Machine Operator will support Unga Holdings’ grain milling operations in Nairobi, ensuring production plans are executed efficiently and safely. The role combines machine operation, routine maintenance, and adherence to food safety and GMP standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily production plans and attend production planning meetings.
• Operate and monitor grain cleaning, milling, and separation equipment to meet target transfer rates (e.g., wheat 14 MT/hr, maize 8.5 MT/hr).
• Maintain equipment efficiency, perform routine inspections, and support preventive maintenance.
• Implement food‑safety objectives, GMP compliance, and quality plans.
• Manage consumables, additives, and product reconciliation before posting.
• Conduct pest‑management and sanitation procedures, including deep cleaning of equipment.
• Investigate process losses and apply corrective actions to optimise grain conversion.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Food Science & Technology.
• Minimum two years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably grain processing.
• Experience in machine operation and maintenance.
• Basic understanding of autonomous maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
