About the role
Our client is seeking to hire a Technical Operations Lead at a fast‑growing industrial equipment supplier and engineering firm to lead, manage, and oversee the workshop department, including Field Service Technicians, Workshop Admins, Mechanics, Welders/Fabricators, Plumbers, and Pump Technicians. The role coordinates daily operations, ensuring efficient delivery of assembly, installation, maintenance, repair, fabrication, and field service activities while meeting quality, safety, and customer expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership, supervise field service technicians, mechanics, pump technicians, plumbers, welders/fabricators and workshop admin staff.
- Plan, coordinate and monitor workshop and field activities to meet timelines, specifications and preventive‑maintenance schedules.
- Ensure quality compliance, conduct root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Technical Director, Sales, Procurement, Finance, warehouse, logistics and administration teams.
- Enforce health, safety and environment standards, promote PPE use and maintain a zero‑incident culture.
- Manage performance, set targets, conduct appraisals and approve expense orders.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Production Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of engineering experience with supervisory responsibility, preferably in industrial equipment, water‑pumping or solar water‑pumping systems.
- Proven ability to lead multiple field service, workshop or project teams.
- Experience with quality assurance, preventive maintenance and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
Required skills
- Positive displacement, centrifugal, industrial and submersible pumps.
- Electric and geared motors, control panels and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Solar water‑pumping systems.
- Pump installation, commissioning, servicing and troubleshooting.
- Mechanical assemblies, couplings and welding/fabrication.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance, root‑cause analysis.
- Equipment fault diagnosis and failure analysis.
- Workshop planning, resource management and quality inspection.
- ERP systems (Odoo preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
