Technical Sales Representative

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic, results‑driven Technical Sales Representative to join our team covering Kenya and South Africa. You will act as the bridge between Avery Dennison’s technical expertise and customers’ needs, driving sales growth while delivering exceptional technical support and solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive needs analyses with distributors, converters and end‑users to identify opportunities and meet sales targets.
• Develop and implement innovative sales strategies to achieve quarterly and annual goals.
• Identify, qualify and follow up on new leads, maintaining a detailed project pipeline.
• Provide technical advice, product specifications and application solutions, and deliver product and brand training.
• Conduct product trials at customer sites and collaborate with the technical department to resolve complex challenges.
• Maintain accurate CRM records (Salesforce) and manage customer relationships, addressing inquiries and complaints within 24 hours.
• Assist with account management, pricing discussions, rebate negotiations and collections in line with corporate policies.
• Prepare and present reports on market insights, competitive activity and new product opportunities.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of proven external field sales and customer service experience in a technical or industrial environment.
• Experience engaging with multi‑tier distribution channels (distributors, converters, end‑users).
• Strong technical knowledge of product applications and ability to solve production issues.
• Deep understanding of the Kenya and South Africa markets and regional business dynamics.
• Demonstrated success in territory management and pipeline development.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for regional travel.

Required skills

• Technical product knowledge and application expertise.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using CRM software, specifically Salesforce or similar platforms.
