Temporary Electoral Staff – Various Roles (Polling Clerk, Voter Educator, Trainer, Officer)

About the role

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is recruiting temporary staff for the upcoming by‑election in Migwani Ward, Kitui County. Positions include Polling Clerks, Voter Educators, Support Electoral Trainers, Deputy Presiding Officers and Presiding Officers. Candidates will work on‑site at polling stations and related training venues for the duration of the election exercise.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in laying out polling stations and counting rooms, including demarcation and display of posters.
• Control queues, verify voter identity, issue stamped ballot papers and manage voter flow.
• Conduct voter‑education activities and distribute educational materials across schools, churches, markets and community centres.
• Support the training of election officials, prepare training venues and materials, and compile training reports.
• Supervise polling activities, ensure proper use of KIEMS equipment, and guarantee secure transmission of results to tallying centres.

Required profile

• Kenyan citizen of high integrity, non‑partisan and resident of Migwani Ward.
• Minimum KCSE C‑grade (or relevant diploma/degree for specific roles) and good character.
• Available for the entire election period.
• Ability to work collaboratively with community leaders and IEBC officials.

Required skills

• Computer literacy (basic PC operation, internet and social‑media use).
• Report writing and basic data handling.
• Effective communication and ability to manage election‑related documentation.

What we offer

• Daily remuneration of KES 1,000 – 2,000 depending on the specific role.
• Short‑term fixed‑term contract for the duration of the election exercise.
