Tokenization Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Tokenization Specialist to lead the end‑to‑end implementation of a leading bank’s digital‑wallet and card‑tokenization capabilities in Nairobi. This senior delivery role combines technical depth with program management, ensuring the solution is launched on time, on budget, and meets all regulatory and performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full tokenization rollout, managing timelines, risks, dependencies and budget.
• Coordinate between the bank’s business, IT, operations, marketing, processors, card schemes and wallet providers.
• Bring tokenization services live across network token services (MDES or equivalent), local token providers, Apple Pay and Google Pay integrations.
• Support go‑to‑market activities, working with product and marketing on launch and adoption strategies.
• Monitor post‑launch performance, analyse provisioning outcomes, approval rates and decline drivers, and drive corrective actions.

Required profile

• Based in Kenya or eligible to work onsite in Nairobi.
• 10+ years of experience in payments, with strong exposure to card issuing and digital payments.
• Proven track record delivering payments implementations and managing complex programs.
• Hands‑on experience with tokenization and wallet integrations.

Required skills

• Tokenization services implementation.
• Wallet integration (Apple Pay, Google Pay).
• API‑based integrations, including network tokenization APIs (MDES pre‑digitization, lifecycle, customer‑service).
• Strong understanding of card‑issuing and digital‑payments ecosystems.
