Trainer I Nautical Science

About the role

The Bandari Maritime Academy seeks a Trainer I in Nautical Science to design, develop and deliver maritime training programmes. The role reports to the Senior Trainer Marine Engineering and is a permanent, pensionable position.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver training programmes and curricula.
• Develop Maritime Education and Training (MET) policies and school calendar.
• Prepare and evaluate teaching, learning and assessment materials.
• Supervise trainees’ practical sessions, trade projects and business plans.
• Mark internal examinations and maintain attendance and performance records.
• Ensure workshop equipment is well maintained and operational.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering from a recognised Kenyan university.
• Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch (OICEW) – Regulation III/1 Certificate of Competency.
• Second Engineer – Regulation III/3 Certificate of Competency (750–3,000 kW).
• Relevant sea time / sea service experience (advantage).
• Approval by Kenya Maritime Authority (advantage).

• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Relevant sea time / sea service experience (advantage).

What we offer

• Basic salary range: KES 42,500 – KES 80,000 per month.
• House allowance: KES 10,000.
• Commuter allowance: KES 12,000.
• Leave allowance: KES 4,000 annually.
