Training Development Specialist

About the role

The Training Development Specialist designs and delivers both formal and informal training programs for the water and wastewater industry, covering topics such as industrial electricity, instrumentation, mechanics, and safety. This role works closely with subject‑matter experts and other county bureaus to ensure training meets operational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Create training content using a variety of materials and methods tailored to technical subjects.
• Coordinate vendor‑provided training sessions and monitor their effectiveness.
• Identify performance gaps and recommend improvements to training programs.
• Assist other bureaus in delivering training as required.
• Collaborate with the EXCEL Training Specialist to develop certification tests.
• Maintain training statistics, records, and reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Strong written and oral communication abilities.
• Valid non‑commercial Class C driver’s license.
• Knowledge of technical education methods and safety training principles.
• Ability to plan, design, and implement engaging adult learning experiences.
• Capability to build effective relationships with coworkers, other departments, and the public.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience using Google Business Suite, particularly Google Sheets.
