Umpire – Recreational Sports Official

About the role

Amentum is looking for a qualified Umpire to join a US Navy recreational sports program on Diego Garcia. You will officiate softball, baseball, and similar league games, ensuring fair play and safety for all participants.

Key responsibilities

• Officiate league games in accordance with established rules and regulations.
• Make accurate, timely calls on plays, pitches, and player actions.
• Inspect fields, equipment, and player gear before each game to verify safety and compliance.
• Maintain game records, scorecards, and incident reports as required.
• Communicate with players, coaches, and program staff to resolve disputes and clarify rules.
• Assist with scheduling, field setup, and coordination of league activities.
• Promote sportsmanship, safety, and positive participation throughout events.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience officiating softball, baseball, or similar sports.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining beyond the hire date.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain deployment fitness.
• Capability to obtain and retain facility credentials and necessary visas.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of game rules and officiating mechanics.
• Effective conflict‑resolution and communication abilities.
