Venture Finance Officer (Kenya)

About the role

Green Earth partners with smallholder farmers to restore degraded land, regenerate soil health and generate verified carbon credits. As Venture Finance Officer for Venture Kenya, you will ensure that funds move correctly, transparently and on time, reviewing payment requests against approved budgets, overseeing a small team handling receipts, disbursements and record-keeping, and keeping every transaction backed by complete paperwork.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all incoming funds are correctly recorded and protected on the day they arrive
• Review and approve payment requests against approved budgets, confirming invoices and supporting documents are complete
• Oversee income and receipts, disbursements and payments, and records, assets and financial reports
• Maintain complete, audit-ready financial records with no missing invoices or unreconciled transactions
• Compile and submit monthly financial reports to the Country Director and Holding Finance on time
• Flag and resolve missing documentation or discrepancies before month-end close
• Escalate payment requests above approved thresholds or signs of irregularity
• Respond to financial queries from division heads, auditors and Holding Finance

Required profile

• Degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related field
• Solid experience in financial management, budgeting or accounting, preferably in an operational, field-based or nonprofit/social-impact organization in Kenya or East Africa
• Strong attention to detail and comfort with budgets, reconciliations and financial reporting
• Clear communication with non-finance colleagues and integrity and discretion with sensitive financial data
• Familiarity with Kenyan financial regulations, tax requirements and banking practices
