Website Developer Intern

About the role

Brites Management Services is looking for a Website Developer Intern based in Nairobi CBD. The intern supports the development, maintenance and optimisation of websites, working closely with marketing, design and development teams. The position is full time and comes with a stipend of KShs 20,000.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining websites using WordPress, including creating and customising themes and plugins.
• Keep websites up to date with content, images and plugins, and make sure they are responsive and user-friendly.
• Manage the WordPress CMS (posts, pages, menus, media) and help with theme customisation and plugin configuration.
• Ensure regular security updates and backups are performed.
• Monitor performance, speed and uptime, implement basic SEO practices and report technical issues.
• Update website content for marketing campaigns and product updates, upload blogs, banners and landing pages, and coordinate with marketing and design teams.
• Troubleshoot errors and bugs, support integration of third-party tools, and give basic technical support to internal teams.
• Report progress and document completed tasks for the supervisor.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Web Design, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills, and creativity in web design and user experience.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of WordPress, including custom theme and plugin development.
• Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with hosting environments and CMS management.
• Understanding of website performance and SEO basics.
