Welding Technician

About the role

BURN Manufacturing, Africa’s leading clean cookstove company, is seeking a Welding Technician to perform high‑quality welding on stove components in Ruiru. The role supports production efficiency, safety compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Perform top‑ring welding and metal‑frame welding according to approved drawings, ensuring alignment, dimensional accuracy and minimal distortion.
• Operate MIG, ARC or TIG welding equipment, using jigs, fixtures and gauges to maintain precision.
• Assist with automated welding processes, including machine commissioning, set‑up trials and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance and production teams to optimise welding parameters, cycle times and changeovers.
• Support training of casual team members and supervise safe, efficient operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in welding or metal fabrication, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands‑on experience with MIG, TIG and ARC welding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and welding symbols.
• Understanding of metallurgy and material properties, especially mild and stainless steel.
