WSO2 Implementation Engineer – CIAM / API Management / Ballerina

About the role

Sybyl is hiring a WSO2 Implementation Engineer in Nairobi (Westlands) to design, implement and deliver customer identity and access management (CIAM) and API management solutions. The role covers WSO2 API Manager, Micro Integrator and Identity Server, with a strong focus on CIAM, API lifecycle, and integration with banking and telco systems.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze stakeholder requirements and design orchestration, API and identity solutions
• Design, install and configure WSO2 API Manager, Micro Integrator and Identity Server across DEV, UAT, Production and DR environments
• Build APIs and integration flows connecting core banking systems, ERPs, payment switches, billers and third parties
• Develop and deploy APIs using Java, Kubernetes/OpenShift and XML-based message processing (XSLT, XPath)
• Containerize and deploy WSO2 and custom components on Kubernetes/OpenShift; build microservices with Ballerina and/or Java/Spring Boot
• Implement CIAM features such as SSO, MFA and self-service, and configure federation and adaptive auth flows
• Ensure CIAM compliance with GDPR and ISO 27001
• Set up CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, Helm), configure HA and DR, and implement monitoring/logging with the ELK stack
• Write test cases (e.g. Cucumber), write architecture and admin documentation, train client teams and give post-go-live support

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field
• 3-7+ years of hands-on experience implementing WSO2 middleware in production
• Demonstrated CIAM delivery experience (SSO, MFA, self-service, federation)
• Prior delivery experience in Telco or Banking is highly preferred

Required skills

• Strong Java, with XML (XSLT, XPath, XML Schema)
• Kubernetes and/or OpenShift deployment and operation
• Relational databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle
• Working knowledge of Ballerina is a plus
