Assistant Project Officer – Water & Construction (Clerk of Works)

About the role

The Assistant Project Officer (Clerk of Works) will support the delivery of water and construction projects in Baringo County. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will ensure that all works are carried out to the approved designs, specifications and quality standards while safeguarding health, safety and environmental requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise construction activities and verify testing and commissioning of completed facilities.
• Inspect delivered materials and ensure compliance with technical specifications.
• Review contractor work plans, schedules and monitor contractual obligations.
• Assist with site inspections, work measurement and processing of contractor payment requests.
• Coordinate with local authorities, community representatives and project staff for stakeholder engagement.
• Prepare daily site inspection notes, monthly technical progress reports and documentation for donor accountability.

Required profile

• Diploma in Civil, Water, Irrigation, Agricultural (Water & Soil) or Construction Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in construction supervision of water infrastructure, pipelines or related civil projects.
• Experience with donor‑funded or NGO‑based rural water supply or climate‑resilience programmes is desirable.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety (OHS), environmental and social safeguards and quality assurance procedures.
