Associate Programme Management Officer – Fixed‑Term (Nairobi)

About the role

The Associate Programme Management Officer will support programme and project management within UN‑Habitat’s Budget, Finance and Operational Support Section in Nairobi. This fixed‑term limited position reports to the Director of the Corporate Management Division and the Chief of the Budget, Finance and Operational Support Section.

Key responsibilities

• Provide programme and project management services, ensuring alignment with donor agreements and work plans.
• Interpret and apply UN‑Habitat policies, procedures, financial and administrative regulations.
• Conduct quality assurance and monitor project budgets, supporting priority‑setting on financial and budgetary matters.
• Coordinate with headquarters project managers, field partners, implementing partners and local authorities.
• Facilitate the implementation and delivery of planned outputs in line with UN‑Habitat’s mandate.

Required profile

• University degree in public administration, finance, development studies or a related field.
• Proven experience in programme or project management within an international organization or donor‑funded environment.
• Knowledge of UN financial rules, budgeting processes and administrative regulations.
• Strong analytical and reporting abilities with a collaborative approach to diverse stakeholders.
