Automotive Fabrication Technician – US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Automotive Fabrication Technician to support a critical US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves restoring vehicles that have been in accidents to a like‑new condition, working closely with body and paint teams, and assisting in damage estimation.

Key responsibilities

• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble accident‑damaged vehicles.
• Fabricate body parts and brackets from aluminum and steel sheet.
• Collaborate with body/paint technicians to achieve a like‑new finish.
• Assist management in estimating damages and preparing accident quotes.
• Maintain safety standards and adhere to contract medical and credential requirements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in welding/fabrication or automotive/truck repair.
• Valid passport (at least one year remaining) and ability to travel internationally.
• Ability to work under limited supervision and pass contract medical requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and, if required, appropriate country visa.

Required skills

• Aluminum welding.
• Steel welding.
• Plasma cutter operation.
• Acetylene/oxygen torch operation.
• Application of welding procedures for various aluminum and steel alloys.
• Fabrication of parts from flat sheet metal.
• Limited electrical knowledge for vehicle systems.
