About the role

CIMMYT is building a roster of qualified breeders to be considered for future opportunities across its global network. Candidates will join a pre‑assessed pool that can be contacted when relevant positions become available.

Key responsibilities

• Execute CIMMYT’s breeding pipeline, advancing germplasm development and dissemination.
• Collaborate with molecular breeding, rust phenotyping, and seed system teams to implement regional improvement networks.
• Design experiments, interpret trial data, and contribute to increasing genetic gains.
• Manage regional data using the Enterprise Breeding System (EBS) for streamlined data handling.
• Lead research technicians, foster accountability, and support best practices at technical stations.

Required profile

• PhD in breeding or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to work respectfully and inclusively in a diverse, multicultural environment.
• Competencies: problem‑solving, decision‑making, achievement orientation, communication, teamwork.
