About the role
The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) seeks an experienced scientist to lead carbon and greenhouse gas measurement research. The role involves providing scientific guidance, developing research concepts, and ensuring methodological rigor across multiple projects.
Key responsibilities
- Provide scientific guidance and ensure research methods meet the highest standards.
- Collaborate with theme coordinators and CIFOR teams to define and implement emerging research activities.
- Write, supervise, and publish scientific communications and reports.
- Lead capacity‑building initiatives and mentor junior scientists, students, and staff.
- Represent CIFOR in national, regional, and global forums on forest governance.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders and donors.
- Identify and secure additional research funding; manage budgets and financial reporting.
- Coordinate donor reporting and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Required profile
- PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., environmental science, natural resource management, social science).
- Proven experience in collaborative natural resource or social science research.
- Track record of publishing peer‑reviewed articles.
- Demonstrated success in resource mobilisation, proposal development, and securing donor funding.
- Strong experience managing multiple projects and budgets across regions.
- Fluent spoken and written English; additional languages are a plus.
- Experience working with diverse, multidisciplinary teams in developing‑country contexts.
