Child Protection and Care System Strengthening Advisor

About the role

The Child Protection and Care System Strengthening Advisor will serve as the subject‑matter expert for child protection, care and early childhood development in Kenya. Working with Catholic Relief Services and partner organisations, the Advisor will guide the design and implementation of system‑strengthening interventions that improve outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on child protection policies, case management, alternative care and social service workforce strengthening.
• Analyze the national Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) and recommend improvements to enhance data quality and service delivery.
• Develop and facilitate training of trainers and support rollout of training for health, social service and community actors.
• Support child protection authorities and sub‑national officials to meet national standards, promote supportive supervision and improve implementation quality.
• Coordinate with the Project Director, global technical counterpart, MEAL and implementation teams to align system‑strengthening activities with early childhood development, family strengthening and violence prevention components.
• Maintain partnerships with government, civil society, faith‑based and community stakeholders.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in social work, public health, child development or a related field.
• Significant experience in child protection system strengthening, preferably in a low‑resource or humanitarian context.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with government agencies and multi‑sectoral partners.
• Strong analytical and facilitation skills.
