About the role
The Clinical Nurse – Cosmetology provides specialised nursing care within the dermatology, plastic surgery and aesthetic units of Aga Khan Hospitals. You will ensure patient safety, comfort and high‑quality clinical outcomes during cosmetic procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, prepare patients for procedures and maintain dignity and privacy.
- Assist in clinical and surgical procedures, verify patient and procedure details, and uphold aseptic technique.
- Perform daily laser safety checks, manage eye protection, monitor for complications and keep safety documentation.
- Deliver wound assessment, care, and scar management, including education on post‑procedure care.
- Educate patients on risks, expected outcomes and after‑care, and coordinate follow‑up appointments.
- Prepare and administer medications, manage local anesthetics and emergency drugs, and monitor adverse reactions.
- Conduct routine equipment checks, report faults and maintain stock levels.
- Respond to medical emergencies, support resuscitation efforts and participate in mock drills.
- Monitor quality indicators, participate in audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) licence.
- Current Nursing Council of Kenya practising licence.
- Minimum three (3) years of clinical nursing experience, with at least one (1) year in dermatology, plastic surgery, theatre or cosmetic practice.
- Certification or formal training in Dermatology, Plastic Surgery or Aesthetic Nursing is desirable.
- Wound Care certification, ACLS certification and Laser Safety Certification are advantageous.
