Consultant – GLF Speakers Engagement

About the role

The Consultant will lead the end‑to‑end speaker journey for the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF), handling identification, invitations, briefings and curating engaging session formats. The position is based in Nairobi and works within CIFOR’s communication team in an NGO research environment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary focal point for speaker identification, invitations, briefings and follow‑ups, collaborating with the Partnership and Engagement Coordinator.
• Identify diverse, visionary leaders and emerging topics, ensuring gender balance (≥50% women) and geographic representation, especially from the Global South.
• Coordinate communication across internal teams to share speaker information accurately and on time.
• Manage the speakers’ database and update related website content.
• Curate engaging formats for both in‑person and digital events that inspire action and ensure plurality of voices.
• Analyze GLF history and themes to connect new voices and ideas that advance global discourse on landscapes.
• Bridge real‑time media narratives with GLF activities to align campaigns with current global conversations.
• Promote and create new content rooted in speakers’ knowledge across media platforms, working closely with the communications team.

Required profile

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, international relations, development studies or a related discipline (or bachelor’s with at least two years relevant experience).
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities with a passion for storytelling.
• Proven experience in project management, coordination, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Solid knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
• Fluency in English; proficiency in French, Spanish, Indonesian or German is an advantage.
